Study of gene expression mechanisms in parasitic protozoa of the genera Leishmania and Trypanosoma. Specifically, my interest is directed towards the characterization of promoter regions for RNA Polymerase III (Pol III), which synthesizes essential RNA molecules such as tRNAs, 5S rRNA, and some snRNAs. I am also interested in identifying and characterizing the proteins that are part of the Pol III transcription complex (Pol III subunits and transcription factors). Additionally, I am interested in analyzing chromatin structure and its impact on the transcription of various genes in trypanosomatids.
