She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Escuela Nacional de Estudios Profesionales- Iztacala at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She completed her Master’s and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. She is a professor in the Biology program at the Faculty of Higher Studies-Iztacala, where she teaches courses on Biomolecules, Cell Structure and Function, and Oxidative Stress.
Her research is focused on the pharmacognosy of Mexican plants, particularly in their antimicrobial, wound-healing, photoprotective, antioxidant properties, and the phytochemistry of plants used in traditional medicine. To date, she has supervised 17 completed undergraduate theses, three completed master’s theses, and one ongoing doctoral thesis. She has 42 international publications with impact factor and has led projects funded by COMECYT and PAPIIT-UNAM.
